Rest easy, Saba Man and I have not gone back to eating meat. It’s only seitan not real beef. My twitter friends and I do a monthly food theme and February’s was Oranges and after posting my photo of Orange “Beef” and Broccoli, there were requests for the recipe.
I have a new bento box— compliments of our friends from JaponMania! They asked me to review their new “Keep Cool Palette” boxes and I of course I agreed. As a bento-nerd, I love talking about anything that has to do with bento boxes, bento-gear and bento shopping! Bring it on.
The first thing you probably noticed is that I did a charaben or kyaraben. I know, right? It’s not my usual approach for packing lunches… I’ll tell you more about this along with a special JaponMania discount later in this post.
I’m crazy about stainless steel bento boxes! An obsession, a passion, a fascination or … a healthy fixation. Okay, I go with that.

The much anticipated bento cookbook by Maki Itoh of Just Bento is now in it’s second printing! And no wonder…because this bento cookbook has it all.
Continuing my bimbimbap battle with a visit to Gilson Korean Restaurant!
No vegetarian variety on their menu, but like the others they were happy to omit any meat products, however they didn’t offer a tofu substitute either.
But do you see what I see?
Saba Man and I have a group of friends that togther, we go out and enjoy new restaurants. New, not as in recently opened but new to us. The Tamarind Tree in Seattle’s International District is an established 5 year dining experience. But for the life of me, I don’t know why I hadn’t eaten there before.
I made a huge batch of shoyu chicken for my bento-stash. And this bento contains two drumsticks. Really!
The first thing you’ll notice about the food at “Bobby’s Hawaiian Style Restaurant” is the lack of greens! Unless of course you order the lau lau! But I’m not complaining…it’s the nature of Hawaiian-style food and it’s delicious!

Ah…I think we’re getting close to dolsot bibimbap perfection. This is the fourth installment of my “bibimbap battle” and again I found this place along Hwy 99, a virtual “road to Korea”?
In the bento world, the summer of 2010 will be marked as the season of cute bento cookbooks! And I love CUTE! But…I have to admit that I pulled out the thesaurus to write this post otherwise every other word would be “cute“.
Adding on to our “Bibimbap Battle” with a revisit to “Babsarang“… but this time I ordered the dolsot version!
