Snowball Bento
Here’s a snowball bento! Or should we call it a “snow bao” bento!
If you’re like me and surf the sites like “Bento Central” you would of had to notice all the fun snowman bentos.
So cute.
I had to give it a try too so I stopped at the market and bought ready-made foods like this rice (peanuts, currents, peppers, ginger, onions), baked salmon and a few steamed hum bao.
The later being my medium for a potential snowman. Well, I failed the first attempt and to hide my failure, I ate him.
And since I wasn’t that hungry I opted to create a snowball instead. Way easier to do with snowflake cutter and exacto blade.
Tada!
Tossed in edamame for extra green color to compliment the red, re-purposed cookie tin (from last year).
Perfect for a bento box, yes? And this snow-bao won’t melt!

So elegant! Haha, you ate the snowman? Your snow bao is too pretty to eat. : )
Hi Chantale! Yep, I ate him. But I should mention lest you think I switched sides…that it was a mushroom/bamboo filled bao.
Snowball with a snowflake worked in – perfect. I like the baking cup/liner you put it in.
Thanks SMI! Yeah, I bought the liners for the eggnog butter mochi and had a bunch left over. Perfect for a holiday bentos!
Looks so yummy n the snowflake will melt not in ur hand but mouth! Haha
Hi Xelia! Haha! Thanks.
Cheerful and chic winter bento…mushroom bamboo bao sounds delish!
Thanks Jenn! Your comments mean a lot to me as I think your bentos are both cheerful and chic as well!
Hahaha you’re funny! That is the best way to “hide” food! From the tag, which one is the Indonesian rice?
Hi Christine! The rice mixture on the left is the Indonesian rice. Thanks.
