July’s B.O.M.B. Challenge
Thanks for entering the contest, a winner has been announced!
Are you ready to post your picnic bento? I hope so because that’s our B.O.M.B. theme for July!
As Yogi Bear would say, “Hey Boo-Boo, how ’bout a pic-a-nic basket?” I know what your thinking…”who is Yogi Bear?” Well, he’s my favorite “picnic basket stealing bear”!
But anyway, you don’t have to pack a basket!
Use any box, or food that’s appropriate for YOUR picnic. How about a hotdog bento? Spam musubi is popular for us Hawaii peeps! Traditional fried chicken and potatoe salad sounds yummy too. It’s whatever you like to eat outdoors.
Tell us about your picnic and share you memories…past, present or future!
The July B.O.M.B. rules are simple:
1. The B.O.M.B. Challenge starts now.
2. The last day to submit will be July 28, 2010 at 6:00 PM PST.
3. Your submission must be a “picnic” themed bento!
4. You can enter as often as you like.
5. The B.O.M.B. will be selected randomly so don’t be shy!
6. Have fun !
(The 2 tier picnic bento in the photo is one that I use for taking to sporting events!)

Great BOMB theme, Debra! Looking forward to taking part and seeing all the outdoorsy summer inspiration
What a great challenge!
Dear Debra, would like to submit my picnic bento that I made this morning but its my first time to submit anything on my bento adventures. Please let me know how do I submit? Thanks.
Hi Xelia, You can add your photo link to the comments. If you don’t have a website or or photosharing site( where you publish your photos), then just email the photo to me, hapabento@yahoo.com and I’ll post it for you.
Thanks and here’s my submission! http://xeliathyin.wordpress.com/2010/07/18/picnic-bento/
perfect timing for the BOMB challenge. I just started making bentos and we just had an opportunity to take them to Shakespeare in the park…this one isn’t on my website but I’ll mail you a pic if you don’t mind.
Thanks for sending your photo. Here’s your bento!

Debra, Would you please share where you purchased the bento box that is pictured on this post? It looks like something I’d love to have more information on. Thanks!
Hi Jen, I purchases this box at my local H-Mart here in the Seattle area sometime last year. It’s a BIG box. Perfect for parties and picnic!
Thanks, Debra! I’m in West Seattle and have never heard of H-Mart. I’ll be doing some sleuthing this week!
Hi Debra, I would like to take part in this month’s BOMB challenge as coincidentally I made a picnic bento a couple of weeks ago. Thanks.

Hi Deewi,
I’m unable to post your photos because of your permissions settings on flickr. Sorry.
Ok, it took a lot of thought to come up with a bento for this theme, but I am pretty happy with how it turned out. When I think of picnics, I think deviled eggs and pesky ants. Both showed up in this bento, but one is super sized and the other shrunk!
