How to Pack a Bento #1

I’m starting another instructional bento series. This first article demonstrates how to pack a 2 tier bento box lunch.
Most of my bentos are quickly asssembled by using my bento-stash. If you are serious about starting a bento box lifestyle, then I recommend that you start building your own stash.
I’ll write more about bento stash later.
In the meantime, here’s the slide show of this bento’s assembly.
Let me know if it was helpful and how I could improve the next slideshow. Thanks!

The video is really helpful! Thanks so much.

Thanks Megan! Appreciate your feedback.
Nice step-by-step. Clear and simple enough for beginners to attempt. And you thought you could sneak a 2-tier stainless steel bento in here? So cool! Looks like my Korean single tier. Love it!
Thanks sheri, I can’t get anything past your eagle-eyes! tee hee… I’m enjoying this stainless steel bento. Saba Man says it reminds him of his Army days!
Great step by step pictures. Great job designing a beautiful yet simple bento to use in this tutorial! Can’t wait to see more.
Hi hypothermya! Thank you for your comments, I glad that this bento “worked out” for the video.
Thank you so much! This explained why although I usually get the basics down, my bentos have been so boring. I need more color in my gap fillers and to garnish my foods.
Hi Valerie, I ‘m so glad that the video helped you.
Loved the slide show and how you made your orange fancy, awesome idea!
Can not wait to hear about your bento stash. So far all I have is onigiri in my freezer..lol
Hi mommyof2girlz, frozen onigiri is a great start. I only have frozen un-shaped rice. There are a spattering of articles referencing bento-stash already posted if you want to check them out! I’ll just be adding a few more. Thanks for liking the slide-show AND the fancy orange.
My daughter just asked me if I can do it to her orange…. she loves it
Hi and thanks Margot! It’s so cute that your daughter loved the flower on the orange!

This was just great!! I loved watching the bento build in stages and enjoy its magical transformation into a finished, beautiful meal. As always your blend of practical know-how and refined details is so appealing! Would love to see more of these…maybe a caprese bento how-to?
Hi Jenn, Thank you for your helpful comments! Caprese bento video would be a fun project…adding to the list!
Great tutorial ^-^ I love videos about bentoing
Hi Lil’chan! Thank you!
Thank you so much! This was really helpful.
This is great, as is the second bento lesson. I was inspired to get some japanese pickled items today: umeboshi, pickled ginger, and takuan. This should be fun!
I have JUST discovered your site and LOVE it. I like making home made lunch boxes for my children with healthy and tasty options and you have lots of inspiring ideas. Arigato!!!
Hi amelia, Thanks and welcome to our bento blog! See you again soon and I look forward to you sharing some of your own ideas.
