Teri-Salmon Bento Box

It’s been awhile since  I’ve  featured the M4SB!  It’s a huge bento box for hearty appetites and reserved for those days when Saba Man needs extra nutrition.

Today’s is one of those days!  Busy, busy, busy! And he will be working this weekend too so more bentos for him and the blog.  :)

This bento is filled with teri-salmon (teri is short for teriyaki), white rice with katsuobushi furikake, steamed broccolini, and simmered shiitake mushrooms in the usual dashi, shoyu, mirin combo.

On a different note,  it looks like spring has finally got a hold of the Pacific Northwest and the flowers are all abloom!  I know this because I can’t stop sneezing!   Going outside to admire said flowers is torture for the nose but heavenly for the eyes. 

An the plus-side, the explosion of colorful foilage provides inspiration for bento themes.  Yes?

    We love teriyaki anything over here. Haven’t used my M4SB in a long time either; thanks for the reminder! Yup, loving the springtime here too! Lots of sneezeworthy, tweetworthy beauty in my garden these days, as you know: roses, sweet violets, clematis, wallflowers, jasmine, tulips, alyssum + heliotrope! I think the flower theme is my most-used bento theme :)

    Mmmm…loving the bright green broccolini, what a savory spring celebration in combination with teriyaki salmon! So nice to hear of spring greening up your corner of the Pacific NW, Debra!
    So far, adding delicately sweet garden violets to recent bentos has been my way of “tasting spring”! When the local farmer’s market starts in a month, complete with asparagus and green peas, I’ll be a very happy bentoist indeed!

      Hi Jenn, We have a couple of markets start up again. Yay! But the best ones have another month before they get into gear. I can’t wait.

    Spring? In Texas? I laugh! It’s actually been a little cold (50-60 degrees F) this past week, so I guess you could call it spring. But the mesquite are turning greener, so there is color. Nothing like a bento though, le sigh. This year, I hope the garden does the providing for my bento. Onions, pepper, two kinds of tomato, and I’ve already started some mint. But it’ll be nothing compared to your bentos! So pretty. /ramble

      Hi Amanda! It’s below 60 degrees here too, in fact as I write this it’s 36 degrees! Your garden sounds wonderful and I look forward to seeing your bentos filled with it’s bounty!

    We all love teriyaki chicken, you bento looks fit for a large appetite!

    My car is covered with this yellow-greenish pollen film. We had a cooler, and wetter that usual winter here in Florida and usually the oak is done blooming right around now. It’s killing all of us. I work in the schools clinic and all week we’ve been getting kids comming in with red itchy eyes, headaches, sneezing and everything to due with allergies. We’ve been through swine flu and norovirus and I think the allergies have hit us the hardest!

    Our bougainvillea is in blossom now and it usually does that in Feb. It’s a nice sunny 80 degree day and I should be outside…except for the pollen! :D

    My nose explodes every morning and so does the color of the wildflowers. Golden mustard, fiddlenecks, blue dicks, lupines, Chinese houses, and poppies! Around the house my irises and lavender are in full spring bloom, but the grey of another storm comes our way.

    I love this bento and wish it was right here right now for dinner. Yummy!
