Tofurkey and Hummus Bento Box
Today’s featured bento demonstrates the use of cucumbers to separate your food items.
I used cucumber as both a baran and cup in this lunch. A wall of sliced cukes shores up the quinoa and Tofurkey section. It works well for stopping the small quinoa grains from flowing into the garlic simmered mushrooms.
The hollowed out cucumber log contains red pepper hummus for dipping just about everything in the box and when it’s empty… this edible container can be munched as well!
Lightly salted watermelon radish is tucked in there too for color and a zing of flavor! And those are dried cranberries on top of the sausage for a hint of sweetness.
This bento took less than 15 minutes to prepare and qualifies as a “speedy bento”.
Actually, it’s a “triple threat”:
1. quick assembly
2. natural and edible baran
3. it’s vegan
If all goes as planned, Saba Man will eat everything, including the cucumber cup, and the box will come back perfectly empty!

Great bento!!! I love the hummus boat!
I love how you used the cucumbers! My hubby would love this one, nice bento!
Sweet! Watermelon radish looks cool + vibrant! Good job with the triple threat – that’s a tough one.

This looks like my kind of lunch. If everyone ate like this, the world would be a much different place!
Hi Stella, Awww… you’re so sweet! Thanks for the kind words.
Looks great but I’m not sure about the tofurky
Hi Ed, Hehehe… welcome to our bento blog! Tofurkey is an excellent product and is a “go-to” food when I don’t feel like cooking from scratch.
Love the cucumbers! Both as a container and a baran.
Hi Sarrow, Thanks and welcome to our bento blog!
Mmmmmm… I love hummus! The bento log is such a cool idea.
Hey, I just set up a bento blog. Is it ok if I link to you on my blog?
Hi Katy, Thanks for your compliments and for linking my blog!
So many great and yummy ideas here! I’m especially taken with the pretty, layered cuke-slice baran. This bento says “spring” with beautiful pink and greens–ahhhh.
Hello Jenn, Pink is hard to resist when it’s so close to springtime!
I love the cucumber hummus pot! Fabulous!
