Color Corn Snack Bento
Today’s featured bento box besides more colored corn… contains kamaboko which means it’s a Saba Man bento. But truth be told I hardly ever pack snack bentos for my own consumption. I just toss fruits or carrot sticks in a bag and we’re done.
Did you know that I eat a lot of apples? But here’s the “thing” I only eat the skins! Isn’t that weird? Very wasteful I know, but I don’t like the flesh. If the apples are very small then I will eat some or all of the flesh but not very often. However, if the apple is cooked I’ll eat the whole thing and if it’s an apple pie… psshh…I’m all over it! “I lurvs apple pie”! Yes, a strange but true factoid about me!
But back to the bento… we are in a colored corn phase! I’m addicted…what can I say? And along with the corn—more of the roasted eggplant, a couple pieces of grilled veggie mandu and the pink and white kamaboko.
Some of you may recognize this bento as I did post it on my flickr photostream a few days ago. But that day I didn’t post any bento boxes on the blog at all so I’m a bit behind. There’s usually a reserve of bento boxes waiting for their chance to be published but not all of them will make it to the “big time”.
We are currently overfloweth with colored corn and my better sense tells me not to bore you with repetitive photos of the same food. I think that would have the same effect as posting snaps of my skinless apples!

Wish we had such colorful corn! Great color spurt!
Debra, how can you think that way? We LOVE your colorful corn
So don’t worry ^.^ I like how you have cut the kamaboko. Looks so elegant =)
Hi Debra, congrats on being featured on Finest Foodie Fridays! Happy cooking!
That’s the most beautiful corn I’ve ever seen! Love your creative idea of the bento box…..so beautiful!
My daughter would love you, because you would eat all of apple skins that I force her to eat.
She really loves apples, but hates the skins. I love the way you cut the kamaboko and the shiso is a very elegant touch. Beautiful snack bento!
Debra, I love that colorful corn in your bento. How do you cut the kamaboko? So pretty.
This corn does look so gorgeous though, I could see it every day! Looks like a lovely snack bento
another lovely bento… i agree with lia, the kamaboko looks great that way. did you use a special tool to cut, or just your mad skillz?
Thank you everyone!
To cut the kamaboko with the fan technique, wiggle the knife while slicing in a downward motion.
I too love the Kamaboko – I love the pink running through it too – looks very flowerish
The corn is beautiful – I bet it’d be really pretty as a corn salad too
