Holiday Party Cupcakes

Not a bento artilce, but I worked too hard on these to not share.  I don’t bake very often, not only because of my fear of dough, but because of respect.  I compare baking  to chemistry where you have to be very precise.  Cooking  on the other hand allows many ingredient deviations and you can “get away with it”  when you’ve added too much or too little of something.  Baking is not that forgiving.

However, during special occasions and a little prodding  I can  create cupcakes.   I’m more interested in the decorating phase than the actual baking, so I skip all the measuring and sifting and go for the box mix.  That way I can concentrate on the homemade frosting, usually butter cream.   The inspiration for these cuppies are from all the holiday poinsettia in the shopping malls and stores.  I happen to have a  cake decorating tip  from a previous fixation with icing roses, an obsesseion really… and one which I could not master.    So the safer flat shaped flower like poinsettia is a much saner choice. :)     The results yeilded 40  cuppies,  but only about  3 dozen  made it to the Christmas party.  You probably can guess where the “rejects” landed… and it was not inside a bento box!

Beautiful! I agree with Sheri, they do look elegant and classy! The sprinkles look like pearls too.

Thanks sheri and Susan. I was pleased in how these turned out. It’s opposite of bento where we want lots of color! It was difficult but I resisted the addition of colored sugars and candies, etc.

They just look wonderful and festive. Almost like little wedding cakes. Good job! I´m too impatient for decorating 40 cupcakes in that delicate way ;)

  5. Lil'chan says:

Hm, they look so nice and festive =) All things I bake will not be decorated that lovely ^^” So I think you did a really great job! ^-^

You sure did a great job on the cupcakes. Decorating so many of them but the end result is very very nice. Can feel the softness and the elegance of your white poinsettia :)

Thanks! All the cupcakes were eaten and Saba Man brought my cupcake carrier/boxes home intact.
